As part of the 2013 Bachfest the Grassi Museum for Musical Instruments is hosting a demonstration of historical instrument tuning.
These days it may be possible to get your phone to tune your piano for you.
But how was the perfect pitch achieved in Bach’s day?
Under the title “Vom rechten Thon” lecturers from the Early Music department of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig will demonstrate a range of techniques on keyboard instruments of the day. Musical accompaniment is provided by Eckhard Kuper and the evening will be compared by Veit Heller.
Vom rechten Thon takes place in the Grassi Museum for Musical Instruments on Monday 17th June 2013 at 6.30pm
