For all who having seen “Zwei Leben für die Fotografie – Lillian Bassman and Paul Himmel” have rediscovered their passion for photo exhibitions: On Tuesday December 4th the Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau open their winter exhibition “Photography at Bauhaus – The Walther Collection ”
Presenting 59 photos recently purchased from the Thomas Walther Collection, the exhibition promises to provide a fascinating “behind the scenes” look at Bauhaus from 1925-1931, featuring as it does images from the daily routine, teaching and social life at Bauhaus Dessau. And so in that respect the exhibition can also be seen as a continuation of the “Bauhaus Art as Life” exhibition that ran at the Barbican Centre London earlier this year.
Among the Bauhäusler presented in “Photography at Bauhaus – The Walther Collection” as either photographer or subject are Herbert Bayer, Marcel Breuer, T. Lux Feininger, Hannes Meyer and László Moholy-Nagy.
In addition to the exhibition itself “Photography at Bauhaus – The Walther Collection” also features an accompanying programme including workshops, lectures and guided tours of the exhibition.
The opening on December 4th is open to all.
“Photography at Bauhaus – The Walther Collection” runs at Bauhaus Dessau from December 4th 2012 until Sunday February 24th 2013.
