Mendelssohn Festtage 2012 – Faith

From September the 7th until September 16th Leipzig  will once again host the Mendelssohn-Festtage; a celebration of one of the city’s most famous sons and by extension of Leipzig’s rich musical heritage.

Under the title “Glauben” (“Faith”) the Mendelssohn-Festtage 2012 sets out to explore both Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’ church music and also how his own Jewish faith mixed with the protestantism of his own idols such as Bach or Händel.

In addition to a series of concerts in the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Mendelssohn-Festtage 2012 also features a series of concerts, motets and salons throughout the city.

Sadly there is no one central website for the Mendelssohn-Festtage, however further information (in German) can be found at
