FERNWEH HAUTNAH Monika Erben and Ebbe Weiss-Weingart

On June 23rd the Grassi Museum for Applied Arts opens its summer exhibition FERNWEH HAUTNAH.

Featuring fashion by Monika Erben and jewellery from Ebbe Weiss-Weingart the exhibition FERNWEH HAUTNAH brings a touch of south Asian charm to Leipzig.

In the 1970s the fashion designer Monika Erben lived in Singapore. Fascinated by the traditional tie-dye handwork of the region Monika contacted collaborated with local producers to create her own interpretations of the technique.

FERNWEH HAUTNAH presents a selection of Monika’s work combined with the jewellery of Ebbe Weiss-Weingart. For over 50 years Ebbe Weiss-Weingart has been producing distinctive and evocative pieces from mother of pearl, coral, or ivory mixed with gold, silver.

For all who can’t make it to exotic shores this summer, the Grassi Leipzig Museum for Applied Arts is perhaps the next best thing!
