Grassi Blog in Eindhoven: Textile Made Fragile by Djim Berger

For this years Dutch Design Week, Eindhoven based collective Atelierdorp have organised a retrospective featuring works from many of those designers who have worked with them in the past.

One of the most interesting contributions for us was Textile Made Fragile by Djim Berger.

The process involves saturating woollen yarns with coloured clay and then forming the objects. During the first firing the wool burns off, leaving the textile porcelain form. The ashes are removed and the objects are refired to produce the fine final form.

The effect is just wonderful.
